Kwena Maphaka, who is 17 years and 354 days old, makes his IPL debut. For MI, who once again start with three foreign players in the starting XI, he takes the place of Luke Wood.

For the Mumbai Indians, this will be Rohit Sharma’s 200th IPL game. After Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, he is just the third player to have played 200 games for an IPL franchise. He has played in 245 IPL matches overall, which is second only to Dhoni’s 252.

Sunrisers have made a couple of tweaks too. World Cup star Travis Head comes in for Marco Jansen. T Natarajan has a niggle and Jaydev Unadkat replaces him in the XI.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Travis Head, Mayank Agarwal, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Abdul Samad, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pat Cummins (c), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, Jaydev Unadkat

Mumbai Indians: Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (c), Tim David, Shams Mulani, Gerald Coetzee, Piyush Chala, Jasprit Bumrah, Kwena Maphaka

First Inning : Tim David dropped  Head off the sixth ball of the match, which was Hardik Pandya’s first ball. Head was on two off of five. A two-length ball that is angled in towards the stumps is smashed over the profound midwicket boundary.

Next, Maphaka bowls a slower one that is full of leg and confusion. The bowler must make an escape move as his head clears his front leg. Then he climbs up to just beyond the reach of a short third. Sunrisers really soared to 40 for 0 after three overs, including 22 runs from the third over.

Head keeps falling in love with India. Having made history with a thrilling ODI World Cup last year, he has now struck the fastest ever 18-ball fifty for the SRH in the IPL. He has, to put it mildly, been brutal. Maphaka covered the ground in his subsequent over. Mumbai 23 was also lost in Gerald Coetzee’s opening over, with Head smashing two fours and a six following an Abhishek Sharma six.

With 81 for 1, their highest score in the first six overs, the Sunrisers end the powerplay. In IPL history, these are also the second-most by any side versus Mumbai.

Mumbai was misguided if they believed that their situation had improved following Head’s fall.

Maphaka, making his IPL debut, was once again the target. Abhishek Sharma reached his half-century off just 16 balls, the quickest for SRH, after hitting two fours and two sixes off the tenth over. Head had brought up his off 18 balls just minutes before. Head scored 22 runs, Abhishek scored 20, and Maphaka’s score is 3-0-48-0.

In ten overs, SRH scored 148 for two.

It is well known that Klaasen loved to fight spin and did so with great success. In the last few years, he has emerged as the top striker in T20 cricket against spin. However, Mumbai switched to Shams Mulani to bowl to Klaasen and Markram, two right-handers, after realizing that the left-handers were struggling.

Klaasen sent him out on his way after a half-dozen. The following three overs were bowled by Bumrah and Hardik. However, Klaasen struck a six off each bowler. What was the outcome? the IPL’s second-fastest 200.

202 for 3 in 15 overs for SRH.

In the meantime, Klaasen scores a fifty from 23 balls. Seems a bit quieter than the ones that Head and Abhishek nailed. However, his hits have had greater impact than theirs. In addition, he has started his IPL 2024 count of fours. next eleven sixes.

There are 277. This isn’t cricket in 50 overs. It is a total recorded in 120 valid balls. In the men’s T20 league, Sunrisers Hyderabad had the third-highest total. the highest IPL total ever.

Second Inning :

Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma are playing at a high level. In an over when Rohit had hit Unadkat for two sixes, Kishan smashed three maximums in an over featuring Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

But Kishan was dismissed for a 13-ball 34 by Shahbaz Ahmed, who struck with the second ball.

Mumbai 56 in 3.2 overs for 1.

It took Rohit Sharma just 12 balls to stay in the middle. An effort to pull Pat Cummins’s leg straight to fine was top-edged by him. But in that time, he hit a four, and three sixes. He scored 26.

In six overs, Mumbai is 76 for 2.

While their pace may not match that of the Heads, Abhisheks, or Klaasens, Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma have been consistently hitting sixes. Shahbaz was scooped over the fine leg by Tilak, who then switch-hit him over the point. In order to hit three in the over, he then played the slog sweep for a second maximum. In just 33 balls, the Dhir-Tilak stand is worth 75.

Mumbai need 137 in 60 overs at 141 for 2 in ten overs.

There was a time of silence. Following a planned break, Tilak hit a six and was out. Mumbai failed to score a boundary after 18 balls. Prior to Tim David’s two sixes and his four.

Mumbai needs 68 in 18 and has 210 for 4 in 17.

There are just 31 runs separating the two teams as the six-fest comes to a close. Mumbai lost momentum as the chase went on, and Sunriser’s smart bowling strategies earned them their first points of the 2024 Indian Premier League. Kishan got off to a fast start, while Tilak, with sufficient support from Dhir, blasted through the middle overs. David was late for the celebration. However, Mumbai found the request a little excessive.

Despite the chaos, Cummins and Unadkat excelled with the ball for the Sunrisers, taking two wickets apiece.
