In his 100th IPL match for DC, Rishabh Pant has won the toss and decided to field first. Both the captains wanted to bowl first when there is no dew or less dew. In Jaipur, this is also the time when you can take advantage of a slow pitch.
Rajasthan Royals : YBK Jaiswal, JC Buttler, SV Samson, R Parag, SO Hetmyer, DC Jurel, R Ashwin, TA Boult, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Sharma, YS Chahal
Delhi Capitals : MR Marsh, DA Warner, RK Bhui, RR Pant, T Stubbs, AR Patel, Sumit Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, A Nortje, KK Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar
Yashasvi Jaiswal walked at Mukesh Kumar, his new Test teammate, a few balls after he drove him for a four. Given the intent with which T20 players bat, Mukesh returns with a delivery that is unplayable. Significantly, this has seamed in after one seamed out. Jaiswal tries a strong hit but misses the ball entirely because he is impatient. The second-fastest opening stand from the previous year was broken early. RR 9 at 1 in the second over.
After Mukesh got Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson batted watchfully. DC, though, kept at it, and brought Khaleel back for a third over inside the powerplay. It brought about the wicket of Samson for a run-a-ball 15. RR are 31 for 2 in six overs.
Kuldeep has used the DRS quite well. Here, he defeated Jos Buttler on the reverse sweep and, by himself, succeeded in convincing his captain to give him a review. Replays verify that Kuldeep is lbw with Buttler plumb.
After charging at Kuldeep Yadav for a six, Ashwin displayed his excellent game knowledge by hanging back for Anrich Nortke in the deep crease and hitting two sixes with his natural length. Ashwin may be able to spare RR a batting substitute and provide them with an extra bowler in the second innings if he can bat this quickly and provide Shimron Hetmyer the best point of entrance.
RR 73 for 3 in 11, having made their first-ever six-over total.
R Ashwin stumbled while attempting to hit a fourth. As he attempts to slug Axar Patel, the vast limits of Jaipur are in play. With six overs remaining, he is out for 29 off 19. He is at 90 for 4.
Riyan Parag has found fluency and has begun to target bowling after a quiet beginning and a sluggish middle. He has somewhat destroyed Khaleel’s analysis, and he is currently 40 off 30. Even after 15, RR is just 108 for 4, so they desperately need a strong finish.
After scoring just 16 off the first 20 balls he faced, Riyan Parag went on to turn around an RR innings that was in trouble. Having scored 84 off 45, he has already scored 68 off the last 25 balls he has faced. The game-winning over came in the last over against Anrinch Nortje, when he set the tempo and scored twenty-five runs. In the wake of Parag’s T20 personal best, RR now have 185 to protect.
Second Inning :
We now understand why. The ball is not doing as well for RR as it did for the DC quicks, as DC haver raced away to 30 for 0 in three overs. The odds are stacked against RR. Then, to change the tide of the game, Burger scores twice in the fourth over.
The first bowler, Mitch Marsh, is bowled by a 146k inswinger. After that, Ricky Bhui almost avoided a lbw call, but he was unable to stop a brutal bouncer right away. DC 34 in four overs for 2.
When Avesh Khan attempted to slide one wide of him, David Warner appeared to be in perfect control of the chase. He just managed an edge to short third during a sit, and it turned out he ended up needing a ladder to reach a full ball well outside off. 49 off of 34 is gone. DC has seven wickets in hand and need to score 89 off 52 balls.
Although Rishabh Pant may not have found his T20 rhythm again, he is still a valuable wicket because, if he bats out the whole match, he can inflict damage to RR. But Yuzvendra Chahal denies him that opportunity. Pant sees a slow slider come across him, but he still manages to nip it through despite delaying the shot. At the beginning of the 14th, it’s 105 for 4.
In the 17th over, Tristan Stubbs mishits a fantastic carrom ball to deep midwicket. For RR, that’s the game right there, but Trent Boult leaves him behind. Then, Stubbs continues to inflict more damage by hitting R Ashwin many sixes. DC now has to win 41 out of the final 3. Axar Patel is there with Stubbs. Once more, the game is in the balance.
Even though Sandeep Sharma and Avesh Khan had 40 runs remaining in the final three overs, Tristan Stubbs’ six and four off the opening two balls of the eighteenth – must have caused some perspiration in the RR dugout. Sandeep Sharma and Avesh Khan, on the other hand, played brilliant yorkers and wide lines to deny DC, winning by 12 runs and extending the home team’s winning streak to nine games.
